Sleeps 4 - 9B Hope Street occupies the first floor of a Victorian terraced town house originally built in 1847. As a result the apartment benefits from large high-ceilinged rooms evocative of a bygone age but is fully equipped for modern living. Hope Street lies at the heart of St Andrews town centre with all of its amenities on your doorstep. However, it is only a 5 minute walk to the first tee of the Old Course.

The apartment has a magnificent living room with three full height original windows overlooking the street and gardens opposite. This room has a dining table and chairs, leather sofa, chaise longue, coffee table and several items of antique furniture. The is a flat screen Smart TV above the mantle piece with BT TV and a Sports Package.

The kitchen lies off the hall and is fully equipped with oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and a fridge freezer. The is a breakfast table and four chairs and the large window overlooks the rear courtyard and garden.

There are two twin bedrooms. The first is off the hall and benefits from an en-suite shower room and the second is accessed off the living room. There is a large family bathroom off the hall with a shower over the bath. Finally there is a large store off the hall with space for storing golf clubs and also a tumble dryer.

The whole apartment has just been completely redecorated and feels both luxurious and practical. This is a special property in a special part of St Andrews.

There is nowhere quite like St Andrews. It has world renowned golf courses, miles and miles of sandy beaches, fabulous coastal walks, world class restaurants and the history of being an esteemed University town. There is something for everybody here.

For golfers there are more than 20 courses within a 20 mile radius of the house and many of these courses apart from the St Andrews Links Trust courses are championship courses in their own right the Dukes, Kingsbarns, Lundin Links and Ladybank to mention but a few.

The history of the Town is remarkable dating as far back as Queen Margaret escaping across the River Forth from the forces of William the Conqueror in 1071. The Consecration of the Cathedral in 1318 in the presence of King Robert the Bruce who rode his horse up the central isle was indeed remarkable! This University town is steeped in history and is a place of pilgrimage for many. There is a diverse array of festivals, cultural activities, with fine museums to be visited.
There are also many things to do in the Town. The Byre Theatre, established in 1933 promotes excellent shows throughout the year and the variety and range of restaurants are exceptional with the array of boutique shopping quite fabulous. St Andrews is a very special place.

St Andrews is renowned world wide as the ‘Home of Golf’. The Old Course is a regular host to the Open Championship which was last held there in July 2015. The Open will return in 2022 when we will see the 150th playing of this historic tournament. Be sure to book your accommodation early. There are now six further golf courses run by the St Andrews Links Trust, including the Castle Course opened in 2009. There are many other golf courses in the area including the Duke’s Course, two courses at Fairmount, St Andrews Bay and Kingsbarns.

St Andrews is also well known for its university which is one of the oldest in Britain, founded in 1410. The town has a good range of shops, hotels, restaurants and recreational and cultural facilities. Beyond St Andrews is the East Neuk of Fife, with a spectacular coastline which boasts fishing villages built around picturesque harbours and sandy unspoilt beaches.

Access by rail, road and air is good.

Edinburgh Airport, with its increasingly wide range of domestic and international flights, is less than 50 miles away and Dundee Airport (15 miles) has regular services to London Stansted. There is a dual carriageway and motorway connection to Edinburgh from Kirkcaldy (20 miles). An alternative route is via Cupar on the A91 to join the M90 at Junction 8 (25 miles)

Hope St is in the heart of St Andrews and comprises a wonderful terrace of Victorian townhouses now mostly converted to apartments. 9B retains many original features with gorgeous high ceilings and ornate plaster cornicing. Within walking distance are the ancient ruins of the 13th century Castle and 12th century Cathedral. There are miles of golden sandy beaches. Just outside your door are a great selection of shops, restaurants and bars. An independent cinema is just around the corner. Also in St Andrews there are art galleries, museums, and not forgetting the 3rd oldest university in the world.

The location of this apartment will appeal to golfers with the world famous Old Course just a 5 minute walk from the apartment. For those wishing to golf you will be spoiled for choice with around 50 golf courses spread throughout the Kingdom of Fife.

You enter the building from Hope St and take the stairs to the first floor. On entering the apartment you come into a generous Hall from which you access all of the principal rooms.

To the left lies the large and impressive living room with its views out over the surrounding properties and gardens. This room would have been the original Drawing Room of the house and continues to convey a feeling of Victorian grandeur and has been tastefully decorated and furnished. There is a Smart flat screen TV with access to BT TV and a full Sports Package. One of the apartment's two twin bedrooms is located off the living room.

Back out into the Hall and you can access the second of the twin bedrooms which has an en-suite shower room.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything that you would expect to find and has ample room for a table and four chairs. There is an oven, gas hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. A separate tumble dryer is housed in the large cupboard in the hall which also includes specific golf club storage.

Finally there is a large family bathroom which has a shower over the bath.

This is simply a wonderful apartment that allows a little walk back in time to get an impression of what living in Victorian St Andrews might have been like.
