** NEW FOR SUMMER 2022 ** Sleeps 2 - Thistle Lodge is a brand new first floor studio apartment lying off a private lane in the centre of St Andrews. Occupying the upper floor of an architect designed building with the ground floor being the owner's artist studio. The property provides a beautiful bright and airy space split between a comfortable living area, compact kitchen space, a luxurious double bedroom area and en-suite shower room. The studio incorporates some state of the art technology from solar panels for water and space heating with high levels of thermal insulation meaning that it is incredibly energy efficient. Externally the construction has made use of many local materials and with wildlife in mind the owners have incorporated "bee bricks" and specific nesting spaces for swifts, wrens, robins and blue-tits. This is the perfect "hideaway" in the heart of the historic town centre with all the comforts you will need for a totally relaxing break.

There is nowhere quite like St Andrews. It has world renowned golf courses, miles and miles of sandy beaches, fabulous coastal walks, world-class restaurants and the history of being an esteemed University town. There is something for everybody here.
There are about 30 golf courses within 15 miles. The restaurants in the town are numerous and of excellent quality. Similarly excellent quality is to be found amongst the local shops, with a range of independent boutiques and artisan traders selling unique labels and fresh local produce from St Andrews and the surrounding area. There are music and art festivals held locally during the year.
St Andrews holds a special place in Scotland's history. It takes its name from the Apostle whose relics, legend tells us, were brought to this place in antiquity by St Rule. Scotland later adopted St Andrew as her patron saint and took his saltire cross for her flag. Before the Reformation, the town was the centre of religious life in medieval Scotland, with the bishops wielding great influence over both church and state. St Andrews is also famous as a place of learning. The university, founded in 1410-11, is the third oldest in Britain.
For many visitors, though, it's a game that draws them here, for St Andrews is the home of golf, the sport having been played here for some 600 years. The Old Course is arguably the most famous golf course in the world, and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club is still the ruling body for the rules of golf. Fittingly, the Old Course hosted the Open during the millennium year and did so again in 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2022.
There are 7 fabulous golf courses within the town and many Championship Links courses in neighbouring villages.
St Andrews is a town designed for exploring. The medieval layout of the town centre remains intact, with the main shopping areas concentrated in Market Street and South Street, with Bell Street and Church Street connecting the two principal streets. Take time to explore – on foot – and take pleasure at the surprises and delights you will find.
There are some ancient historic buildings to explore (the Castle and Cathedral are must-sees), museums (including the British Golf Museum), as well as the stunning beaches with all they have to offer and the pier - spectacular for a walk at sunset.

The owners have just finished the construction of this fabulous two storey property to provide their own artist's studio on the ground floor and a luxury holiday rental studio on the first floor. On entering the property there is an area inside the door for storing golf bags, shoes,.etc and you then ascend a lovely wooden staircase to the studio. The studio comprises a comfortable living area with a sofa, a small table and two chairs, a desk and a Smart TV on the wall. This space is dominated by a huge picture window facing east and looking out over all of the historic neighbouring gardens that run back from the houses on South Street. To the other side of the living area lies a well thought out kitchen space. It has a two ring induction hob, wall oven, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a boiling water tap at the sink.
