There really is nowhere else quite like St Andrews. It’s a town where world-famous golf courses meet miles of sandy beaches, and ancient university buildings sit alongside incredible restaurants and coastal walks.

It truly has something for everyone. Golfers are spoilt for choice, with around 30 courses within a 15-mile radius. The town itself is also packed with fantastic restaurants and unique independent shops, from little boutiques to artisans selling fresh, local produce from the surrounding area. Throughout the year, the town comes alive with various music and art festivals.

St Andrews is steeped in Scottish history. Legend has it that the town got its name when the relics of St. Andrew were brought here long ago. He later became Scotland's patron saint, and his saltire cross became the national flag. For centuries, this was the religious heart of medieval Scotland, and it’s also home to the country's oldest university, founded all the way back in 1410.

But for so many visitors, it all comes down to one thing: golf. St Andrews is, simply put, the home of the game, having been played here for 600 years. The Old Course is arguably the most famous in the world, and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club still sets the rules for the sport. Fittingly, the Old Course has hosted the Open multiple times, most recently in 2022. You’ll find seven fantastic courses within the town itself and many more championship links in the neighbouring villages.

The best way to experience St Andrews is to simply get lost in it. The town’s medieval layout is still intact, with shops and pubs concentrated along Market Street and South Street. Take your time and explore on foot—you’ll be delighted by the surprises you find tucked away down the little connecting streets. Make sure you explore the ancient ruins of the Castle and Cathedral—they’re absolute must-sees. You can also visit the British Golf Museum or just enjoy the stunning beaches. A walk along the pier at sunset is something you won't soon forget.

* New for 2026* - Sleeps 4 - Accessed via some stone steps from Hope St the apartment occupies the lower ground floor of an original Georgian town house in central St Andrews. The main entrance opens off a courtyard area and once inside there is a long hallway with the two bedrooms lying to the left and right.

Both bedrooms can be set up as either king size doubles or twin beds and both have ample storage and hanging space. The left hand bedroom has an en-suite shower room and there is a separate shower room further down the hall. At the end of the hall is the living room which has a sofa and two large armchairs, an electric replica "stove", a Smart TV and a dining table and chairs. The room has been tastefully decorated and furnished and is evocative of a bygone age with a cosy and comfortable atmosphere.

Off the living room is the kitchen which is fully equipped with hob, oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and smaller appliances. Beyond the living room there is a small utility area complete with a washing machine. From the utility area you get access to the rear courtyard and upper patio both of which provide the opportunity for sitting outside. Finally there is an outside storage "cupboard" in the front entrance courtyard.

Parking is free and is on-street with plenty of other nearby paid parking options.
