Elie is a charming coastal village that has welcomed holidaymakers for generations, thanks to its relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches and wide range of activities. Stroll through the village to discover independent shops, including a delicatessen, greengrocer, gift shops and cafés, or unwind with a drink in one of its welcoming bars.
The village is home to four beautiful sandy beaches, as well as a fascinating volcanic beach where visitors often search for the famous "Elie Rubies". The harbour beach, proudly awarded Blue Flag status, is a popular spot for families and watersports enthusiasts, offering activities such as sailing, kayaking, paddle sports and more during the season.
For those looking to stay active, Elie Sports Club, and Elie Watersports provide activities for the whole family both on land and on the water. For the golfers, the historic Elie Links offers a challenging championship course with origins dating back to the 16th century.
Nature lovers can explore the scenic Fife Coastal Path, which passes through the village and offers spectacular views along the shoreline. More adventurous visitors can tackle the famous Chain Walk at low tide, using fixed chains to navigate beneath the cliffs and discover hidden caves and rock pools.
At Elie Ness, the historic Lady's Tower overlooks the coastline. Built for Lady Anstruther as a private changing house before her daily sea swims, the tower remains one of the area's most recognisable landmarks. Today, visitors can admire its historic character while enjoying panoramic views across the Firth of Forth towards Elie Lighthouse and neighbouring St Monans.
