The house is ideally located less than five minutes to the University's famous Younger Hall where student Graduation takes place every June, and the world-renowned Old Course is only a five minute walk away. There are about 30 golf courses within 15 miles. The restaurants in the town are numerous and of excellent quality. Similarly excellent quality is to be found amongst the local shops, with a range of independent boutiques and artisan traders selling unique labels and fresh local produce from St Andrews and the surrounding area. There are music and art festivals held locally during the year.
St Andrews holds a special place in Scotland's history. It takes its name from the Apostle whose relics, legend tells us, were brought to this place in antiquity by St Rule. Scotland later adopted St Andrew as her patron saint and took his saltire cross for her flag. Before the Reformation, the town was the centre of religious life in medieval Scotland, with the bishops wielding great influence over both church and state. St Andrews is also famous as a place of learning; the university, founded in 1410-11, is the third oldest in Britain.
For many visitors, though, it's a game that draws them here, for St Andrews is the home of golf, the sport having been played here for some 600 years. The Old Course is arguably the most famous golf course in the world, and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club is still the ruling body for the rules of golf. Fittingly, the Old Course hosted the Open during the millennium year and did so again in 2005, 2010 and 2015.
There are 7 fabulous golf courses within the town and many Championship Links courses in neighbouring villages.
St Andrews is a town designed for exploring. The medieval layout of the town centre remains intact, with the main shopping areas concentrated in Market Street and South Street, with Bell Street and Church Street connecting the two principal streets. Take time to explore – on foot – and take pleasure at the surprises and delights you will find.
There are some ancient historic buildings to explore the Castle and Cathedral are must-sees, museums including the British Golf Museum, as well as the stunning beaches with all they have to offer and the pier - spectacular for a walk at sunset.
The Pembroke is a traditional stone built terraced house in the centre of St Andrews. It sits at the east end of Market Street and has a huge amount of character throughout, with accommodation arranged over three floors. The windows to the front overlook Market Street which is a quiet, cobbled residential street with the windows to the back overlooking the property's private garden.
There are two bedrooms front and back on the ground floor along with a shower room, fitted with a WC, wash hand basin, towel rail and walk in shower. Also on the ground floor is a utility room which is fitted with base units, shelving, a Belfast sink and a washing machine and dryer. There is a door out to the rear garden and a single integral garage large enough for a medium sized family car.
Stairs rise up to the first floor. Off the landing is a cosy small sitting area/snug with a DVD player and adjacent to this is the large open plan kitchen, sitting and dining room. The kitchen is fitted with a range of base and wall mounted units with white stone effect worktops with integral sink. Integrated appliances are by Smeg and include a dishwasher, oven and grill, microwave and five burner gas hob. The kitchen is open plan to the sitting room. The sitting room flows into the dining room which overlooks the rear garden.
Three additional bedrooms sit off the second floor landing along with a family bathroom. The master bedroom overlooks Market Street and has an en suite shower room with WC and wash hand basin. The family bathroom has twin wash basins with mirror above, a WC, bath with shower attachment and shower cubicle.
The garden can be accessed by the ground floor back door. The garden has mono-block cobbles and is bounded by a wall on one side with well stocked flower beds below. This is an attractive and perfect place for outdoor dining with table and seating available for alfresco dining or coffee and drinks. There is also a charcoal BBQ provided for your use.
The house lies a stone’s throw from the heart of St Andrews’ vibrant retail area which has many artisan outlets such as butchers, fishmongers, cheese shops and bakers and a number of small boutique shops. On your doorstep there is a wide range of cafes, pubs, restaurants to choose from with the Byre Theatre, museums and cinema only a short walk away. Don't forget the stunning award winning beaches that St Andrews has to offer, again only five minutes away from this special house.

Please be aware that the annual Lamas Street Market will be in operation in St Andrews from the 6th August 2020 until 11th August 2020 which can affect the house. It runs from Thursday to Tuesday evening in Market Street and the neighbouring streets of South Street. These streets will be very busy and noise can travel from the market to the house. There is no on street car parking on Market Street at this time and it will also be limited in the surrounding areas.
